EJ boys top BEA in Saturday matinee
The East Juniata boys basketball gave their new coach Darin Hazel a convincing win against Bald Eagle Area Saturday in a rare out of conference contest, winning 59-39.
With the season entering its final two weeks the Tigers are battling for a spot in the post season.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Tanner Barth who posted a game-high 24 points.
Teammate Wayne Dressler added 14 in the victory.
Bald Eagle Area’s Kahale Burns paced the Eagles in scoring posting a 13-point effort.
In the first quarter, East Juniata got off on the right foot by outscoring Bald Eagle 14-9.
Things continued to sizzle for the Tigers in the second as they again outscored the Eagles 17-9.
When the game went into the intermission, East Juniata led 31-18.
East Juniata continued its consistent play into the third as it again rounded out the quarter, outscoring BEA 12-8.
Rounding out the game, the Tigers continued its strong defense, posting the 20-point wins.
