EJ tops Midd-West in Freedom Bowl

In a battle against two former feeder teams of the East Juniata high school football program, the East Juniata Midgets went face-to-face with the Midd-West Mustangs.
On this night, the day belonged to the Tigers as they defeated the scrappy Mustangs, 35-12.
Despite starting the game on defense, the Tigers wasted little time getting out of the block, scoring on its first possession of the game.
Dylan Messimer scored the first touchdown of the game beating out containment and scoring on a 29- yard score on an interception, making it 7-0.
But the Mustangs would be unphased when they battled back and cut into the East Juniata lead to 7-6.
Ethan Schleif blazed his way to the 61-yard run.
However, back battled the Tigers and they handed to Messimer for the 1-yard TD run, upping the lead to 14-6.
East Juniata’s defense held and it was then the Tigers time to strike once again.
And score they did, East Juniata started the second quarter leading 20-6.
Before the intermission, the Tigers had one last score in them.
Messimer once again got the call and he took his team into the half, leading it 28-6.
Midd-West would score in the second half but it was too little too late as the Tigers took the contest, 35-12.
