In the girls race, sophomore Jessie Bomberger was the first Indian to finish with a time of 23:57.  Good enough for 9th overall.  Juniata’s Haley Mummah came in next in 14th place with a time of 25:37.  First year runner Aspen Eby made huge improvements from her BVI race to finish in 18th place in a time of 28:00.  Nia Matthews finished in 21st with a time of 29:48.  Juniata’s Brooklyn Herrold rounded out the scoring for the Indians with her 25th place in a time of 32:34.  The girls took a win against Newport with a score of 25 to 30.  There were 4 scoring teams.  The Indians took losses against St. Joseph Catholic and Greenwood.
Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “The boys looked good considering they just ran hard on Saturday at the BVI Invitational.  The course was very muddy from heavy rains over the last several days so this was a good experience for most of them so we are prepared if we end up with conditions like this at districts or states.  The girls came out to run with most of them improving their times from the BVI Invitational on Saturday.  It was a fun first home meet for all of us.”
Seven runners from Juniata took part in the Junior High 2 mile race.  Eighth grader Alex Armstrong took the win in 12:30.  While the only other boy runner for Juniata was Alejandro Guante with a time of 26:57.  In the girls race, Sylvia Brubaker looked strong again taking the win with a time of 12:37.  Other junior high runners taking part in the two mile race were Carolyn Heidenreich with a time of 15:25, Drue Hoffman with a time of 15:26, Calla Mianulli with a time of 17:41 and Sylvi Gaisior with a time of 21:10.
Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “The junior high team ran really well in less than ideal conditions.  The rain and mud didn’t effect them at all.  They went out there and got the job done.  I’m very excited about the years to come with this young group.”
