By Josh Yoder

Calkins scored big late and never looked back winning over Wray’s Landscaping 11-9 to win the Little League Super Series Minors Baseball Championship Friday night at Rec Park.
“Great, great the kids earned it they worked hard all year,” Calkins coach Dave Cherry said. “We were very successful all year.”
With the score tied at one apiece heading into the bottom of the third inning, where Calkins got the bats going with Carson Cherry led off with a single. Bane Fox came up next and got a single of his own, but the ball got away from the center fielder allowing Cherry to score and Fox hustled his way to second. Fox later scored on a wild pitch before Shane Moist Jr. blasted a two-out RBI triple to left to bring home Bo Reeder, giving Calkin’s a 4-1 lead.
However Wray’s responded with a big inning of their own, dropping five runs beginning with Adian Giles scoring on a bad throw by the catcher trying to pick him off at third. Cayden Breon drove in Dylan Wray with a single before Cullen Busch and Kole Strawser hit back-to-back singles driving in three more runs to complete five run inning.
“That’s what it takes to get these kids back up they get down on themselves,” Wray’s Landscaping coach Jason Hunter said. “When something bad happens they put their heads down and that’s where we got to improve, keep your heads.”
Calkins remained focus adding five runs of its own including a two run inside the park home run from Landon Mazur.
Wray’s tried to close the gap late in the game but was cut off by Fox who made a tremendous unassisted double play to put the game away for Calkins.
