LEWISTOWN – The game between Foxpro and Spring Mills could only be described as the shootout at the ok corral where both teams were firing their best shots at one another. But ultimately, it was the Predators who came out on top by the final score of 20-10 in six innings Thursday evening.
The Braves struck first in the top of the first inning where they scored two runs in the frame. Stover hammered in Keith with an RBI triple to right before scoring himself on a wild pitch to put them up 2-0.
However in the bottom half of the inning, Foxpro answered with two runs of their own with a Jaxson Pupo double to left that brought home Xavier Smith for the first run. Then Ethan Eichhorn hit a SAC fly to center field to bring in Pupo to even the game at two apiece.
But Spring Mills quickly responded as Stover drew a walk with the bases loaded that scored Kevin Sweeley to give them a 3-2 lead.
Then in the top half of the third inning, the Braves came back again scoring another run thanks to a Nate Gillespie grounded out to third but managed to bring in Micah Schrenkel to make it a 4-2 lead.
The Predators finally got the bats going again though in the bottom of the third scoring four runs in the frame capped off with two run double to left by Landen Eichhorn to have it be a 6-4 Foxpro lead.
Spring Mills then evened things up tacking on two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to have the game be tied at six.
Bottom of the fourth inning was when the Predators turned it on and never looked back scoring five runs. Evan Pupo drove in most of the runs in the inning with a bases clearing double scoring home his brother Jaxson as well as the Eichhorn brother Ethan and Landen.
Like mentioned earlier Foxpro just hit the pedal to the metal and kept bringing in the runs as the bottom of the fifth, the Predators added four more runs in the frame and then would finish the job in the bottom half of the sixth inning driving in five runs including the walk off three run home run by Jaxson Pupo to put the game on ice.
For Spring Mills, Brooks went 2-for-4 with two doubles, Keith went 2-for-4 with a double, Stover had a triple and a RBI, Schrenkel was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Homan was 2-for-2, Musser had a hit as did both Sweeley and Nate Gillespie.
Foxpro was led by Jaxson Pupo who had three hits in the game, two of which were doubles and the walk off run homer. Smith had two hits in the game including an RBI, Ethan Eichhorn had a triple and four RBIs, little brother Landen, who also got the win on the mound had a hit in the game which was a two RBI double. Evan Pupo had two hits in the game with a double and three RBIs, Josh Rosefsky, Dan Brundage and Kristian Bulick each had a hit and Rylan Bailey had an RBI.
Spring Mills will be playing a double header on Sunday as the Braves will host the Milesburg Iron Kings.
