WINGATE – Back where they belong.

Saturday, the Bald Eagle Area softball team had to do battle with a tough Marion Center for the chance to head to the District 6 Class AAA.

In a defensive contest, the game came down to one swing of the bat.

It would be Bald Eagle’s Kendall Gavlock that would have a moment that all softball players dream of … a walk home run to send her team on the title game, as the Lady Eagles move onto the championship game.

Defensively, the two teams would breeze through the first six and a half innings as neither team were able to plate a run.

But in the seventh, Gavlock sent her team and their fans home celebrating as she blasted a shot into right field for the walk-off home run.

Sierra Albright picked up the win for Bald Eagle as she quietly pitched a no-hitter as well. She finished with 12 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Lady Eagles scattered seven hits.

The Lady Stingers Cheyenne Silvis took the loss. Silvis went six innings, striking out six and walking two.

Kailey Eckert and Gavlock led the Lady Eagles with two hits in the victory.

The win sets up a title tilt showdown between them and the underdog Philipsburg-Osceola team that took care of top seeded Forest Hills and Central Cambria to get to the championship game.
