Gingrich explodes for 28, MC girls take care of State College

LEWISTOWN – The winning streak continues!!!

With the freezing weather outside, the MIfflin County girls basketball contest versus State College was the hottest ticket in town, as was the play of the Lady Huskies.

Mifflin County won its sixth in-a-row as it dropped the Little Lions 61-38.

Marissa Gingrich  blazed the trail on the scoreboard for MIfflin County shooting for a game-high 28 points.

Her teammate Bri Bodtorf was again very active on both sides of the court, finishing with 13 points.

Mya Aumiller also had a hot hand hand for MIfflin County hitting the double-digit plateau with 10.

In the first, the Little Lions kept it close trailing 15-11 after one.

Bodtorf was the leading scorer for MIfflin County in the first with five.

Going into the intermission, the Huskies again outscored State, posting a 12-8 advantage in the second quarter.

Gingrich exploded for all 12 points in the period.

Mifflin County went into the half leading 27-19. State College still was in striking distance as the third quarter got underway.

However, like it has for most of their games, the Huskies came out of the halftime sizzling.

Mifflin County doubled up State College in the third, 26-13.

Again, Gingrich continued her offensive domination hitting 11 points  in the period. Teammates Bodtorf was also very active in the shooting department posting eight.

Mya Aumiller also complimented the high scorers with four points.

Going into the final stanza, MIfflin County opened up the lead even more, 53-32.

In a low scoring fourth, the Huskies clinched the victory and added to its winning record.

In JV action, Mifflin County notched a win as well, winning 34-23.

Leading the scoring for the Huskies was Jalee Bodtorf 17.
