Houtz and Hazard take Cross Country wins for Juniata at Lancaster County Christian School

Juniata Senior James Hazard ran solo to take the win against Halifax, Lancaster Country Christian School, and Anchor Christian running a time of 17:35 over the 5K course.  Micah Fausey came in 3rd with a time of 19:09.  Other Indian boys finishers were Tim Kelly 4th – 19:26, Brody Powell 5th – 19:37, Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre 11th – 22:32, and Noah Sheaffer 14th – 23:35.  Coach Jeff Miller said “The boys ran well considering the warm weather this time of year.”  Juniata was the only team with 5 or more runners to score as a team.
On the girls side, Juniata’s Emily Houtz and Kierstyn Fogle took first and second with times of 23:20 and 23:27 respectively.  The next finishers to come in were Elizabeth Gaisor 6th – 27:56, Katie Hart 7th – 28:01, Peyton Sheaffer 10th – 28:33, and Rachel Fisher 11th – 29:32.
“A lot of the girls ran personal best times on this very warm day” Coach Jeff Miller said.  Juniata was the only team with 5 or more runners to score as a team.
Juniata will compete next at the Mid Penn Championships on Saturday, October 24 at Big Spring High School in Newville, PA.
