Huntingdon slips past Lady Eagles in Double OT
Tuesday, the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team found themselves in quite a battle as they went into overtime with Huntingdon.
Tied 1-1 after regulation, the two teams battled into almost two overtime periods before the Bearcats scored to take the 2-1 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Huntingdon started the scoring on a G. Buonaccorsi goal at 15:09.
The Eagles’ Sybil Thompson tied the contest when she caught a pass from Addison Tice and sent it home at 31:46.
But in the second OT period, Buonaccorsi ended things on a goal at 91:09.
The Eagles led in corners by an opportunities by a 7-6 margin. They also led in shots on goal by 15-7 output.
“Huntingdon caught us on our heels and got the opening goal, but I thought we responded well and tied it up going into the half. I felt we held possession and got quite a few scoring opportunities in the 2nd half and overtime, but couldn’t cash in on them. It ultimately hurt us as we weren’t able to pull out a win,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. Makyala Spicer made a great diving save in the 2nd overtime period, but Huntingdon put in the rebound. It was a heartbreaker for sure.”
BEA goalie Makayla Spicer finished with five saves.
Huntingdon’s goalkeeper Molly Millar finished with 14.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles drop to 9-3-1 on the season.
