LEWISTOWN – Mifflin County didn’t go down without a fight in its 4-1 loss to Hershey in a Mid-Penn Conference boys soccer game Thursday afternoon at Mifflin County Middle School.

For the vast majority of the first half, Hershey went right onto the attack on the Mifflin County net. However the Huskies’ defensive line welcomed the challenge and held off the Trojans through the first 10 minutes of the match.

Defense turned to offense as the Huskies began pressing forward and putting pressure on the Hershey defense. Then eventually Henry Rivas went on the attack and stoled the ball and quickly lobbed a a cross pass over to a charging Alex Keller who put his head on the ball and knocked in the first goal of the game.

The Trojans continued their assault on the Mifflin County net. But the Huskies refused give in and stonewalled the Hershey offense nearly forty minutes.

Eventually though Hershey managed to break through the Mifflin County defensive line as Stefan Verbeek raced downfield and launched a cross pass to Joshua Fisher who scored with a header of his own to even the game at one apiece heading into the break.

The Mifflin County defense faced many shots in the opening half, but forced the Trojans into making tough shots.

But then in the second half was when Hershey finally got the offense rolling as three minutes into the final half, Jacob Moyer blasted a shot to the back net.

Few moments later, Verbeek scored on a penalty kick before Fisher scored his second goal of the game to finish off the game.

Despite this, the Huskies continued to pressure the Hershey offense forcing the Trojans to make some tough shots.

Mifflin County (0-9) will look for win number one on Saturday as the Huskies travel to face Mifflinburg.
