HWF Summerfest 2024 Making History!
By Joshua Yoder
LEWISTOWN – Well wrestling fans! The best way to describe this year’s Summerfest was love and violence as the stars of HWF were bringing the heat in more ways than one.
The HWF Colosseum was extremely hot! But not as hot as the action throughout the show. The show started off with the self-proclaimed only world heavyweight champion that mattered Horsepower came into the ring and demanded a match from the HWF. He got one, but not the one that he was expecting as the Titan James Ford answered the challenge and the HWF Heavyweight champion made short of him.
Later that night Ford found himself a bigger fight as he looked to defend his championship against Madness of Trip in a highly anticipated matchup. And both men certainly did not disappoint.
This match went in so many different directions in large part due to Trip trying to avoid the power of the Titan throughout the match. Whether it be with speed, or never even keeping Ford grounded with incredible submission ability.
However, the match itself soon became a slugfest between the two warriors with each giving each other their best shot. But Trip managed to catch the champion off guard and trapped him in a Triangle Choke.
But like so many other times before, the Titan proved why he was the HWF Heavyweight champion as Ford powered Trip up and first buckle bombed Trip on the top turnbuckle. Which Trip still was able to hold onto Ford. Ford then quickly dropped the hammer down on Trip with a massive Titanfall onto the mat and scored yet another successful title defense to the roar of the crowd.
That was not only title defense during the event as John Washington defended his Xtreme Championship during a three way dance which featured longtime fan favorite Sledge Gibson and the debuting J-Sin.
Despite the odds not being in his favor, Washington still was able to weasel his way to victory and successfully retain his title.
Unfortunately the scheduled match of Angel Metro versus Riley Krowe was canceled. But the ladies of the HWF still made an impact at Summerfest as Ashlan Shaw made her return to the ring after months of absence due to an injury. Shaw sent out an open challenge for the next HWF show and did not care if it was a woman or a man.
That wasn’t the only challenged made as Pit Chick also came out and called out Mother Chelsea to a match at the upcoming show as well before the two got into a bit of a scrap.
Last but certainly not least, Promoter Trista Silks made an announcement at the show. And sadly, she reports that 2024 maybe the last year that they will be able to perform at the Lewistown Community Center. But Trista also believes a “certain executive” is possibly pulling some strings. We will keep you updated as this story unfolds.
Fan favorite Steve Steel was in action at the event as he was in singles action against Derek Wayne that ended in a DQ due to the fact Big Philly attacked Steel during the match. We will also have more on that story as well.
As always, the local heroes of Lewistown aka the Sons of Mifflin County had their fingerprints all over the show. Edward James got the ball rolling for the SOMC as he came out victorious in his match with Devin Thrasher and now has his eyes set on Sicend in the near future.
But then, after months of billed up and discussions, we had finally reached the main event of the evening as Round 2 of Neverfall versus SOMC.
At first, it appeared to be a normal tag team match. But quickly escalated into the wild brawl that everybody was expecting it to be, especially when the SOMC got their hands of Neverfall.
But the dynamic duo of Zack Rayne and John Rodin quickly showed why they have been undefeated for such a long time and got the upper hand on the SOMC.
Matt TRK Silks had found himself trapped between both Rayne and Rodin as neither one allowed Silks to make the tag to his partner RD Mosh. Frustration really began to set for the SOMC as Silks managed to tag in Mosh, but the referee forced Mosh back due to him not seeing the tag thanks to Neverfall.
TRK continued to battle and was able to shift it to another gear and got the tag to Mosh who came out with fire and turned the tide of the match in favor of SOMC.
Things though turned for the worse during the match as it appeared that Neverfall was getting desperate to keep the undefeated streak going as Rodin stuck his way back into the locker room and kidnapped Pit Chick and threated her in front of Mosh and Silks as they were trying to finish off Zack.
But Dani managed to escape and shoved Rodin into the post which allowed both Mosh and Silks to regain their focus and hit Rayne with the Welcome to Mifflin County and made history as the SOMC began the first team to defeat Neverfall and became the new HWF Tag Team Champions.
Remember what I said earlier, about how there was violence and love? After the show a very special moment happened. While the SOMC were celebrating in the ring, Silks wanted to thank everyone who had supported them throughout their careers and more importantly their lives.
Silks thanked his longtime friend Mosh for always being there both in and out of the ring. He also wanted to tell Pit Chick how much she has grown as a wrestler and as a person. But then the magic moment happened as Silks had asked Pit Chick to turn around and she quickly fell to tears as Mosh had dropped to one knee with a ring in his hand and asked for her hand in marriage with she happily accepted.
Congratulations! And best wishes to the future Mr and Mrs Mosh!
Until next time wrestling fans!
