Jacks Mtn. bats too much for Cyclones

The Jacks Mountain Ridgerunners 10U team showed that it never gives up and will battle when needed.

Saturday in its first game of the MIfflin County Eagles Slugfest at Yeagertown Little League Field.

Playing the Lock Haven Cyclones, the Ridgerunners took everything the Cyclones could give them but still came out victorious late, winning 9-6.

Jacks Mtn. finished with a 5-hit contest.

Chase Krepps led the offense with a 2-hit afternoon, scoring two runs and an RBI.

Other notching hits were Easton Stonerook, Drayson Getz and Cohen Leister. Leister highlighted his game with 2RBIs and a run scored.

Leading the way for the Cyclones were Evan Edwards, Xavier Wadsworth and Collin Brandt.

After a scoreless first inning, Lock Haven opened the scoring one run.

Brycen Weikel led off with a walk.

He later scored on an infield single by Rowan Weikel.

But the lead would only be temporary when the Ridgerunners’ bats got going in the bottom of the inning, plating three.

Anderson Bitner led off with a walk and stole three consecutive bases to tie things at one.

Luke Warfel was hit on a Cyclones’ offering. He stole second and third.

Landen Cunningham joined Warfel on base with a walk of his own.

Stonerook blasted a 2-RBI single into right, scoring both Warfel and Cunningham, taking a 3-1 lead.

The Cyclones roared right back as they posted a 3-run inning of their own, taking back the lead at 4-3.

Jacks Mountain was not going to be denied in this contest as they battled back to knot the game at four in the bottom of the third.

After taking a walk, Warfel blazed his way across the base path and managed to tie the game by stealing home.

Lock Haven’s offense was shut down in the fourth as the Ridgerunners kept the Cyclones from scoring.

With the offense starting to sizzle, Jacks Mtn. Put the game out of reach as they outscored the Cyclones 5-2 in the final two innings to take the contest.

In the previous game, the Cyclones defeated the Happy Valley Heat 11-6.
