Joe’s OIP holds off Burnham Bulldogs in 14-6 contest

Tuesday the Mifflin County Cal Ripken minors were in action when Joe’s OIP came up against the “new kids on the block “ Burnham Bulldogs.

Joe’s started off hot and finished just as hot, holding off a stingy Bulldog team that battled back to force the game into a six-inning contest, 14-6.

Four Joe’s pitchers combined for a 3-hit, 14-strike out performance.

Leading the offense for the winners was Easton Stonerook who posted a 3-for-4 afternoon, scoring three times and collecting four RBIs.

Others picking up hits for Joe’s were Luke Warfel, Conner Moist and David Snyder.

The Bulldogs were Noah Amey, Nate Lindley and Asher Pearce.

Burnham led off the game, posting the first two runs of the game.

Lead off hitter Bella Yoder opened with a walk. She later moved up the base paths and later scored.

Luke Wise followed with a walk of his own and was able to score on an RBI single by Lindley.

Joe’s came firing back in the bottom of the first, plating four runs.

Warfel sparked his team with a walk . He then stole second and third.

Eric Mathews followed with a walk as well.

Easton blasted both in when he went into right field, tying things at two.

Chris Ritter reaches on an error while Easton scored on the play.

Ritter stole second and third and then home, upping their lead to 4-2.

Eli Sutton cut his team’s deficit after being hit by a pitch.

He stole second and then scored on an RBI walk by Yoder, cutting it to 4-3.

But Joe’s went right back to the offensive, adding four more runs to take a commanding 8-2 advantage.

The inning was highlighted by a 2-RBI double by Stonerook and a 2-run double by Conner Moist.

Burnham added one in the third and two in the fourth, cutting the lead to 8-6.

Joe’s OIP finished off the scoring with six unanswered runs to take the contest 14-6.
