Juniata baseball team tops Greenwood

The pitching duo of Logan Kehler and Will Orwig as well as timely defense carried the Juniata Indians past rival Greenwood Wildcats by the final score of 7-2 in Tri-Valley League baseball action.
The Wildcats scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning as Isaac Myers hit a single to left center that drove home Ethan Jezewski to give Greenwood a 1-0 lead.
Juniata responded in the bottom half of the first scoring four runs in the frame. Two of those runs were off Greenwood errors. The Indians got on the board after back to back errors from third which allowed Josh Bomberger to score and tie the game at one apiece as well as Jacob Condo able to reach base.
Orwig then singled to center which scored Condo to give Juniata a 2-1 lead. Kehler helped himself with a triple deep to right field that brought home Orwig all the way from first to make it 3-1. Brayden Pannebaker then came on to courtesy run for Kehler and was brought home on a single by Paul Ames making it 4-1.
The Indians added another run in the bottom of the second with a single by Bomberger down the third base line to score Dawson Harper.
Greenwood chipped away at the lead with a single by Tyler Sherman who scored Avery Morder making it 5-2.
But that was as close as the Wildcats would get as Juniata added on two more runs in the game to put the game on ice.
Orwig went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Kehler and Bomberger each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Kehler pitched the first three and a third innings with two strikeouts and three walks. Orwig then finished off the remaining of the game with a strikeout and a walk to collect the save.
