Juniata boys dominate Line Mountain 9-0

Blasting away.

The Juniata boys soccer team dominated Line Mountain Tuesday in their Tri-Valley League contest, winning 9-0.

“Line Mountain was an improved team from the first time we saw them. We did a good job sharing the soccer ball and creating chances to score,” said Juniata coach Jared Byler. “Everyone played well today. It was great to see freshman Mason Beward assist freshman Marcio Cardenas’ goal.”

The Indians dominated on shots on goal by a 22-0 margin and in corner kicks 9-1.

Line Mountain had 18 saves while Juniata was untested.

It didn’t take long for the Indians to get on the board when At 37:05 Jelvin Cardenas put one past the Line Mountain goalie thanks to an assist by Bryce Rush.

At 31:23, Juniata scored on an unassisted goal by Bryce Rush.

Halfway through the first stanza, Juniata got a score via an own goal, upping the lead to 3-0.

16:37 – Juniata’s Bryce Rush scored goal number four of the half at 16:37 on an assist by Will Saner.

Rounding out the first half scoring at 11:15 was Henry Rivas from Ben Wagner.

In the second, Juniata got scores from Rivas, Rush from Ben Wagner and Brant Walters.

At 3:50 left, Juniata ended its scoring on the afternoon when Marcio Cardenas scored on an assist from Mason Beward.
