Juniata boys soccer team falls to TVL foe Greenwood

In Saturday action, the Juniata boys soccer team battled TVL rival Greenwood.

The Wildcats were too much for the Indians on the day, winning 3-1.

Greenwood posted its first goal, posting it at 22:42.

But at the 14:18 mark, Juniata’s Brant Walters notched an unassisted goal to tie the contest.

“Another game where we played well in segments and not a complete 80 minute game. We made a mistake in the first 5 seconds of the second half that led to losing what was a tied game,” said Juniata coach Jared Byler. “The great thing about this team is that they will learn from it and continue to build each other up and stay positive. Brant Walters and Ty Shellenberger played well in the back and Brant was able to connect on free kick for a goal.”

But the Wildcats notched two uncontested goals in the second en route to the 3-1 victory.

Greenwood led in shots on goal by a 10-5 margin and also led in corner opportunities 9-0.

In Keeper Saves, Juniata tallied 11 while Greenwood had 5.
