Juniata Christian girls upset East Juniata

COCOLAMUS – Only a day after posting 17 goals in their season opener, the Juniata Christian School girls soccer team had to do battle with the ever tough East Juniata team.

Annika Martin and Maddie Warner paced the Lions as they both posted two goals en route to the 5-4 upset victory over the Tigers Tuesday.

Rounding out the goals for Juniata Christian was Peyton Burd.

East Juniata got goals from Sara Brackbill, Heidi Hoffman, Addison Feltman and Haley Hoffman.

East Juniata struck first when Haley Hoffman caught a pass from Brackbill and sent it home.

Minutes later the Tigers made it 2-0 when Brackbill would tickle the twine with 27:29 left.

The Lions blazed their way back in the contest, scoring two quick goals in less than a two minute time period.

Scoring first was Martin, getting her team on the board at the 25-minute mark.

At 24:02, Martin scored again, tying the contest.

Warner would get the last laugh in the period as she hit a goal late in the half, giving the Lions the advantage at the intermission.

Going into the second half, East Juniata bounced back, retyping the game for the second time, Feltman blasted a shot this time. Tying it at 3-3.

But that wouldn’t last for long as Juniata Christian battled back for two unanswered points, icing the contest in the process.
