Juniata College Shedlock named Rookie of the year

Three Juniata Softball Players Named Landmark All-Conference; Shedlock Tabbed Rookie of the Year

TOWSON, Md.- The Landmark Conference on Wednesday announced its major award winners along with its All-Conference selections. Freshman outfielder Alyssa Shedlock (State College, Pa./State College) was named the Rookie of the Year and selected to the First Team. Joining her on the First Team is junior shortstop Kerigan Ammerman (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley). Sophomore third baseman Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) was a Second Team selection. The three players selected are the most for JC since five were named in 2010.
Shedlock is the first Eagle freshman to be named Landmark Rookie of the Year since Juniata joined the conference in 2007. Overall, she joins Amy Gable (2001) and Brandy Preslovich (1999) as Juniata players to earn Rookie of the Year honors.
Shedlock is fourth in the conference with a .394 batting average to go along with her 27 RBI, 10 doubles, three triples, and two homeruns. She was ninth in slugging in the conference at .529. Shedlock was named the Landmark and ECAC Player of the Week for the week of March 27 as she batted .625. Against Scranton, Shedlock was 5-for-6 with a double and a homerun, five runs scored, and two batted in as Juniata swept the Royals for the first time since 2009.
Ammerman had a career-best .389 batting average to go along with 13 stolen bases and 27 runs scored. She also had a career-high .937 fielding percentage and turned five double plays.
Ebright has career-highs in hits (34) doubles (six), and runs batted in (24). In conference play, she batted .333 and her .528 slugging percentage is 10th. She has a .960 fielding percentage in Landmark games.
