Alvernia Golden Wolves 5, Juniata College Eagles 4
HUNTINGDON – Despite their best efforts, Juniata College fell just short in their season opener in Men’s Tennis action against the Alvernia Golden Wolves with the Wolves winning 5-4.
Both teams seemed evenly matched in the singles competition where six singles matches were competed. Both teams split the singles match with each winning three.
This match ultimately came down to the final three doubles matches. That was where the Wolves took over the meet winning two of the third doubles to take the match. The lone Juniata College win in doubles came from former Juniata high school tennis player Seth Strawser and his partner William Michelson defeating the duo of Lucas Berger and Thomas Figurelli of Alvernia by the final of 8-4.
Strawser also competed in singles competition losing to Alvernia’s Jayden Lewis in straight sets. The first set being 6-2, then the second set was much closer losing 6-4.
Juniata College starts off the season (0-1) and will look for their first win of the season on Wednesday as the Eagles will host the Lycoming Warriors.
