With the fall sports season recently in the rear view mirror for the local teams, one thing that might have gone unnoticed is the dominance of Juniata County’s sports team.

Between both East Juniata High School and Juniata High School, the list of championships and championship team’s are incredibly long and distinguished.

For the Tigers, the East Juniata boys soccer team not only captured the Tri-Valley championship but the team also rallied to capture the District 4 Class A championship. They weren’t done yet as they also competed tough in the PIAAs.

On the Juniata high school side, the Indians football team again dominated its competition and earned a District 6 Class AAA title, the also made a strong push, defeating the District 9 winner in DuBois. They also gave Meadville fits despite a late loss.

In cross country, the Juniata boys dominated the the Tri-Valley League and won the District 6 Class AA championship as well. Individually, Logan Strawser took the District 6 Championship and came in third in the PIAA state competition.

The boys soccer team also left their mark on the Juniata sports scene as they first finished in the top four in the Tri-Valley League, losing to rival East Juniata.

However, the young team went through their District 6 post season opponents, notching an overtime win and wins to secure the District 6 Class AA title. Their season ended in a trip to the PIAAs.

The Juniata girls volleyball team qualified for the post season as did the Juniata girls soccer team.

Finally, in youth action, the Juniata Pee Wee football team finished as runner up in the Central Keystone Football and Cheer League action this year.

It was quite a season mostly all the Juniata County fall sports programs, that is a true testament to the coaches and athletes’ will to win and bring their very best, night after night!
