Juniata Cross Country Compete at the Ben Bloser Invitational

Newville – Despite not having enough runners on the girls and boys teams to compete as a team, the Indians still had some good performances on the day.
On the boys side, freshman runner Joey Bomberger led the Indians with a 44th place in a time of 18:52.001.  Shortly after freshman Wyatt Stroup came in for 56th place in a time of 19:28.569.  Senior Micah Fausey finished in 95th place in a time of 21:09.234.  Rounding out the Indians was Charlie Telfer in 152nd place in a time of 28:46.211.  The race was won by Colin Whitaker from Lampeter Straburg in a time of 15:56.620.  Coach Jeff Miller was pleased with the boys performances.  “Joey attacked the race.  He ran into some problems late in the race with the hills and the heat, but he didn’t give up. He works hard and does whatever you ask of him.  It was getting very hot by the time the boys competed.”
On the girls side, Senior Emily Houtz led the Indians with a 57th place finish in a time of 25:41.221.  She was followed by Freshman Jessie Bomberger in 75th place with a time of 27:05.741.  Other Indians competing were Peyton Sheaffer in 91st place with a time of 30:54.354 and Joceline Telfer.  Joceline’s time was not available at the time the article was submitted.  The girls race was won by Sydney Werner from Conrad Weiser in a time of 20:03.227.  Coach Jeff MIller said “It was tough for the girls without having one more runner to compete as a team, but the four of them gave it their best for the day.”
Juniata travels to Hershey on Saturday, September 25thto compete on the state championship course at the PIAA Hershey Foundation Invitational.
