Juniata falls after 2nd half run by Greenwood

Juniata and Greenwood met up Thursday in a strong Tri Valley League match up.

Juniata opened up the game on the right foot but a 2-goal second half by the Wildcats spoiled the Indians hopes as they went into the 2-1 victory.

In the first half, Juniata scored at 20:37 when Stuart Dare notched a goal from an assist by Jelvin Cardenas.

Second Half Goals for Greenwood came at the 25:52 and 9:43 marks, respectively.

Greenwood led in shots on Goal by an 11-4 margin.

Juniata captured 16 saves while Greenwood had only one.

The Wildcats led in corner opportunities by an 8-1 margin.

“Soccer is a game of two halves and in order to win the game you have to play a complete game and win both halves. We were only able to win the first half and lost our way in the second half,” said Juniata coach Jared Byler. “We got away from the things that made us a good team in the first half and we paid for it.”
