Juniata girls soccer tops Millersburg in OT

With a tough opening week schedule, the Juniata girls soccer team toughed out a 3-2 overtime victory over Millersburg Thursday.

Ashlyn Pannebaker scored in the first half with 24:38 on the clock after connecting a pass from Victory Frantz.

“After the 3rd game 3 nights in a row we did not play our game. We didn’t make the runs off the ball and track marks quite like we have been doing. With having only 14 girls that were able to play tonight due to injuries, I am proud of the way they pulled through in OT to get the win,” said Juniata coach Laresa Paden. “There are definitely things we need to improve on, but they dug deep tonight and pulled it out.”

Pannebaker scored on another pass from Victory Frantz with 13:42.

In the first round of OT with 5:20 on the clock Lily Adamire received a pass and broke free dribbling down the left sideline and crossed a ball back into Pannebaker making a run down the middle of the 18 sliding the ball past Millersburg’s keeper.

Hailey Kepner recorded 25 saves. “Hailey had an outstanding game tonight,” said Paden. “She played well off her line to come out when we needed her and she saved us a lot in the back.”
