Juniata girls tame Buffaloes, 63-34

The Juniata girls basketball team came out of the holiday break on a mission, topping Newport 63-34 in a Tri-Valley League Friday match up.

Leading the way on the evening in the scoring department were Malin Kint with 17 points, Olivia Clark with 15 and Mackenzie Bennett with 10.

Offensively, the Lady Indians got off to a strong start doubling up the Buffaloes 18-9 going into the second quarter.

Things continued to go Juniata’s way in the second as it was able to outscore Newport 11-7, taking a 29-16 advantage into the lockeroom at halftime.

Momentum continued to be in Juniata’s corner as the third got underway as its offense posted a 14-8 scoring run to give them a secure lead going into the final quarter.

In the fourth, Juniata put the game on ice, outscoring Newport 20-10 to take home the victory.
