Juniata Junior High Cross Country looks strong against PV

Juniata Junior High Cross Country Teams take wins at Penns Valley on Wednesday, October 1, 2025
The Juniata boys junior high cross country team took a win against Penns Valley 23 – 33. While the girls won because Penns Valley didn’t have enough to score as a team. This is the first time that Juniata has competed on the Penns Valley course. Today was a nice day for racing. The course was marked well and was beautiful as it went through the shaded woods. On the boys side, seventh grader Evan Yackey won another race by taking the lead from the gun and never looking back. Evan ran a time of 13:03.4 on the 2.1 mile course. Matthew Corman ran to a 4th place finish in a time of 13:49.1 with Elliott Miller and Landon Miller placing 5th and 6th respectively. Elliott ran a time of 15:13.6 and Landon was shortly behind with a time of 15:19.6. Alex Copenheaver rounded out the scoring for the Indians with a 7th place finish in a time of 15:20.6. Andy Rutherford placed 10th in a time of 16:19.3. Austin Phillips placed 12th in a time of 18:15.9 and Mason Hardin placed 13th with a time of 20:42.8. Eighth grader Hannah Wirt won the girls race in a time of 16:02.4. She was followed by second place finisher Claire Ciarrocchi in a time of 16:17.8, 3rd place was Sophia Laub in a time of 16:35.6, and in 4th place was Aubrey Fogle in a time of 16:55.9. Rounding out the scoring for the girls was Ella Snyder in 7th place with a time of 17:37.2. Other finishers for the Indians were Eowyn Rendall in 7th place with a time of 17:38.0, Charlotte Barner in 9th place in a time of 17:41.9, Juliet Heidenreich in 10th place with a time of 17:42.9, Avery Mitchell in 12th place with a time of 19:30.3 and Adrianna Peck in 13th place with a time of 20:35.1. Unfortunately, Moirah Doydora rolled her ankle, fell, and was unable to finish the race. Coach Miller said “I was pleased with the way most of the kids raced today. They have a meet on Saturday at Gettysburg Invitational so I am hoping that they all step up and have a great race on Saturday. I hope that Moirah is ok after rolling her ankle and is able to run on Saturday.”
