Juniata soccer team captures the TVL title

MARYSVILLE – In their last year’s game in the Tri-Valley League Championship Game
the Juniata boys soccer team fell in a nail biter to finish their season as TVL runner up.
Not this season.
This time around the Indians made sure that it would not comedown to a last second goal or PK. They would take it to Halifax 6-3 Thursday night at Susquenita High School.
Juniata jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage in the first.
At 36:38 Juniata, scored first by Daniel Lopez as he was assisted by Anthony Maradiaga.
It would be five minutes later for the Indians to go up by two goals at 31:43. This time it was scored by Ricky Guante.
Halifax cut the lead in half at 25:48.
But at 17:41 Juniata scored once again. The Indians scored on a goal by Anthony Maradiaga, assisted by Daniel Lopez.
But before the half ended, Halifax would battle back at 3:15.
When the two teams went into the intermission, Juniata led 3-2.
Things got more interesting in the Second Half as Halifax tied the game at three at 27:15.
From there the game belonged to the Indians.
At 26:47, Juniata, scored on another Maradiaga He was assisted by Daniel Lopez.
At 9:02 Juniata, scored once again by Maradiaga.
The Indians added an insurance goal at 2:42Juniata, Maradiaga picked up the hat trick assisted by Daniel Lopez.
Shots on Goal on the night were led by Halifax 17-11. But Juniata led in corners by an opportunities by a 9-7 mark.
The Indians goalie Nolan Imes finished with nine saves while Halifax had 14.
