Juniata wrestlers finish second at Bloody run

The Juniata Varsity wrestling team had a “Bloody good” showing this past weekend as it went 4-1 on the day and placed a firm second place at the Bloody Run Duals.

The team’s only loss came at the hands of a tough Boiling Spring team that defeated Juniata 51-13

The Indians defeated Thomas Jefferson 48-27, Moshannon Valley 45-30, Central Cambria 45-30 and James Buchanan 63-0.

In their first match with Thomas Jefferson, the Indians won 48-27.

120-pounder Amelia Smith opened the game with a forfeit.

At 126, Casey Smith also finished with a forfeit.

Thomas Jefferson took care of the 132-152-pound weight classes.

160: Josh Bomberger took the 160 pound weight class with a pin of over Matthew Herron at 2:34.

It would be another forfeit for the Indians at 172. Harrison Mummah picked up the easy win.

At 215, Jonathan  Kauffman pinned Dominic Donatelli at 2:53.

Jordan Cruz wasted little time in his 285-pound contest over Logan Timko winning via a pinfall at 1:40.

At 106, Joey Bomberger also notched a forfeit win.

113-pounder Emma Arentz finished the contest with a forfeit of her own.

Juniata 45, Moshannon Valley 30

Juniata notched its first win at 126. Taylor Smith pinned Lucas Yarger at 3:14.

At 132, Daniel Painter pinned Carson Moore at 4:45.

160-pounder Josh Bomberger won via pinfall over Jalen Kurten at 1:39.

172-pounder Harrison Mummah  pinned Austin Shoff at 5:10.

Juniata captured the 215-pound weight class when Jonathan  Kauffman won by major decision 11-5 over David Honan.

At 285, Jordan Cruz pinned Connor Williams at 3:36.

106-pounder Joey Bomberger won via pinfall at 4:25 over Jacobe Turner.

Finishing up things for Juniata at 120-pounds was Casey Smith  as he won over Roman Faulds via an Injury time out.

Juniata 63, James Buchanan 0

This match was dominated from beginning to end as the Indians blanked James Buchanan 63-0.

At 138, Daniel Painter won by forfeit.

The Indians and James Buchanan both received double forfeits at 145 and 152 weight classes.

160: Josh Bomberger (JUHS) over Nathan Brake (JBH) (Dec 6-4)

At 172, Harrison Mummah won by forfeit.

189-pounder Lane Peiper pinned Cadyn Strock at 0:56.

Jonathan  Kauffman (215), Jordan Cruz (285), Joey Bomberger (106), Abby Berrier (113), Amelia Smith (120) and Casey Smith (126) all won by forfeit.

At 132: Taylor Smith finished things off with a pin of Savvy Jacobson at 0:52.

Juniata 40, Central Cambria 34

It was a contest that could have went either way but it would be the Indians that would grind out a very close 40-34 contest over Cambria.

At 132, Daniel Painter got his hand raised in a forfeit win.

Juniata would pick up another win at 160 as Josh Bomberger dominating in a 17-5 major decision over Deklan Estep (CCH)

At 215, Jonathan  Kauffman pinned Jake Wentz at 1:28.

Joey Bomberger picked up the easy win at 106 winning by forfeit.

113-pounder Amelia Smith picked up the forfeit win.

Casey Smith dominated the 120-pound match pinning Jacob Wilson at 5:19.

In the final match of the meet, 126-pounder Taylor Smith finished things with a forfeit win as well.

Boiling Springs 51.0, Juniata 13.0

Though the wins were few the Indians were able to notch some very impressive win in a losing effort.

At 215, Jonathan  Kauffman pinned Jacob Scott at 0:55.

285-pounder Jordan Cruz muscled out a win 12-10 decision over Julyan Dodson.

Rounding out the wins was 120-pounder Casey Smith pulled out an 18-4 major decision over Jackson Mentzer.
