Juniata wrestling holds weekend tournament, goes 1-2

MIFFLINTOWN- Saturday the Juniata wrestling team hosted the Juniata Bracketed Duals hosting Coatesville, Southern Huntingdon and Juniata Valley.
The Indians picked up a win and two losses. However, their loss against Southern Huntingdon was a 36-34 thriller.
Juniata’s win came against Juniata Valley.
Coatesville 40, Juniata 22
The Indians fell to Coatesville 40-22 in the contest. Picking up wins for Juniata were the following:
At 133, Colten Rowles picked up the pinfall over Elijah Whitaker at 4:55.
Cody Nipple at 139 picked up a win over Drake Szymborski by pin at 0:37.
145-pounder Ty Fahnestock muscled out an 11-8 decision over Aiden Clinton.
Ryder Smith took care of the 160-pound match as he took a 9-1 Major decision over James Hardy.
Rounding out the wins for Juniata at 189, Conrad Long won a 9-3 decision over Jack Rutledge.
Southern Huntingdon 36, Juniata 34.0
Leading off at 127, Juniata’s Anthony Maradiaga pinned Mason Williams at 1:08.
At 133, Colten Rowles dominated in his match against Noah Fogal winning by tech fall 16-0 at 0:00.
Cody Nipple kept the wins coming at 139 on a pin over Kade Thomas at 0:50.
145-pounder Ty Fahnestock won by pinfall over AJ Carowick at 3:06.
At 160, Ryder Smith won by fall over Aidan Watson at 0:39.
Rounding things out for the Indians at 215 was Conrad Long’s tech. fall win over James Taylor 17-0 0:00.

Juniata 36, Juniata Valley 28
At 127, Anthony Maradiaga picked up an easy forfeit.
The same happened for 133-pounder Colten Rowles.
Juniata made it three forfeit wins in a row. At 139, Cody Nipple got his hand raised for the forfeit win.
At 145, Ty Fahnestock pinned Caden Walters at 3:53.
Juniata chalked up another forfeit win at 172. This time it was Derrick Aurand that got the win.
Picking up the final win of the match at 215 was Conrad Long picking up the pinfall over Robert Hess 0:17.
