Juniata’s Air attack helps lead Indians over Clearfield

MIFFLINTOWN – Off to a strong start, the Juniata Indians football team dominated on defense Saturday to defeat Clearfield 20-7 in its season debut.

It was a game that would take two days to complete.

Friday, the Indians took an early lead before the game suspended due to the hazardous weather conditions.

However, Juniata was able to put a touchdown in before it was temporarily suspended.

Waylon Ehrenzeller  scored on a 36- yard run. The kick failed at 8:30.

When things got started back up Saturday, the Indians went right back to business.

Makih Hunt made it 12-0 as he caught an 18-yard pass from Aaron Kanagy with 0:18 left in the opening quarter.

Clearfield cut into the Juniata lead in the second. Will Domino  blazed his was to 8-yard TD run. The Evan Davis kick was good with 5:58 left in the half.

Both defenses took over from there and the two teams went into the intermission, with Juniata leading 12-7.

In the third quarter, the Indians were back at it again when Jordan Dickinson crossed the goal line on a 3-yard run. Then Juniata went for the 2-point conversion. Mikah Hunt caught a pass from Aaron Kanagy at 4:18.

Leading the way for the Indians on the night was Kanagy as he threw for 199 yards through the air.

Waylon Ehrenzeller led the ground attack with an 85-yard performance.
