Juniata’s Logan Strawser showed he’s not only a talented runner, but a fine young man.  Bald Eagle’s Colton Wagner was the only runner competing in the 5K against the Juniata Indians.  Strawser set out to pace Wagner to a course personal best on his home course.  His personal best on the course before today was 20:48.  The goal was for Logan to pace Colton to a sub 20:00 on the difficult course.  Logan paced it to perfection taking the win in 19:52 while Bald Eagle Area’s Colton Wagner took second with a course personal best of 19:58.  Juniata’s Wyatt Stroup came in 3rd with a time of 21:04.  Joey Bomberger came in a second later in 21:05 for 4th place.  Charlie Telfer and Noah Sheaffer rounded out the scoring with their 5th and 6th place finishes in 28:09 and 28:27 respectively.  Juniata won 15 – 50.  Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “We got in some great work today despite not having a team to go against.  Many of the boys ran hard on Tuesday, so we backed off the intensity a little today.  I discussed with Logan about helping Bald Eagles only runner in practice yesterday.  He was all for it.  Logan paced Bald Eagle Area’s Colton Wagner perfectly so he could get a course personal best on his home course.  Logan enjoyed helping him and they both came away from the meet feeling good about what they accomplished for the day.  I’ve told Logan a while back that he will met some of the finest people in the sport of running and he’s finding that out.”

On the girls side, Bald Eagle didn’t have any runners.  The Juniata Indians had three, but needed five to take a team win on the day.  Sophomore Peyton Sheaffer led the Indians with her 1st place finish in a time of 32:38.  Elizabeth Gaisior came in 2nd with a time of 33:27.  Senior Joceline Telfer placed 3rd in 46:05.  Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “Peyton, Elizabeth, and Joceline ran strong despite not having any competition.  They competed against themselves and showed heart”.

The Juniata cross country team will compete next against Mifflin County on Thursday, October 21st.
