LORETTO- Kibe for five!
In its District 6 match up against familiar foe, State College, Josie Kibe helped lead her team to the D6 Class 6A title Wednesday as she hit solo home run, grand slam home run and single in the season sweep over the Little Lions.
The championship win was its third consecutive title, 8-2.
Despite rain delays and the normal pressure of a championship game, the Lady Huskies seemed unphased by everything around them and was locked in to the on field action.
“Every time I walk up to the plate I tell myself, ‘Just get a hit’, or ‘ Just find a way to get on base’ and then I had two strikes on me. I just hit the ball and it went out. I was really shocked,” said Kibe. “On the second one, I just went up again to try to get a hit. I thought they were going to walk me honestly. I was really happy they didn’t.”
MIfflin County hurler Devaine Condrack kept the State College bats at bay for most of the contest.
Only, State College batter Olivia Herncane was the only one in the line up to finish with two hits off the Husky starter.
Condrack allowed only four hits in the contest despite waiting through a rain delay in the fifth inning.
Taking the loss for State College was Zia Bodner.
The Lady Huskies rapped out 11 hits in the victory.
“You just never know what to expect,” said MIfflin County coach Craig Weston when asked about the rain delay. “You get going you are hitting the ball well and pitchers are throwing well, we talked to Devaine told her we were going to have her warm up and see how you feels and we had Maddie Wolfgang . We have confidence in both of them. But Devaine had pitched the whole game, she’s a senior leader on this team and we are going to stay with her.”
After a scoreless first innings, Kibe stepped to the plate and sent a sizzler right over the centerfield fence for the solo shot.
Teammate Leesha Shilling also roped a single in the inning but was left stranded.

With one out, Alyssa Souders was hit by a Bodner throw, loading the bases for Kibe.
Kibe stepped up again and sent a laser shot that cleared the left field fence, marching all her teammates home while upping the MIfflin County lead to 5-0.

Despite the layoff, Condrack came back in and got the last out of the fifth.
