Kish Bank and JP Edwards take home OT wins

LEWISTOWN – It doesn’t get better than this.
In the final game of the Mifflin CountySoccer Club’s two oldest divisions, both finished in “Sudden Death” overtime ls to decide the championship of the groups end of season tournament.
Victory Auto faced Kish Bank for the championship game in oldest division in the Mifflin County Soccer Club while in the division below, JP Edwards played Barr Funeral.
Four teams battled for the final top spots.
In the end, Kish Bank outlasted Victory Auto 1-0 in a 3×3 sudden death scenario while JP Edwards got the last goal in their game, defeating a tough Barr team, 3-2.
Kish finished the contest in dramatic fashion as Sam Stoltzfus got loose on a breakaway and sent it though the net for the only score of the ball game.
It was back and forth start as both teams tried find a good chance to score a shot.
Kish had the advantage early on Victory pushing it down in Victory Auto’s end a out shooting them early by a 3-1 margin.
After Kish posted a fourth shot, Victory added on on a breakaway. However for Victory the breakaway was stopped by the backline of Kish Bank.
From the very beginning, the game had an atmosphere of excitement.
The two were close playing in the early shut out scoreless tie.
Kish has its chances but the Victory Auto defense stood up once again, like it did early on.
Game went into an overtime that played to a sudden death scenario.
Victory Auto was not a stranger to that as they had a total of three overtime games on the day.
Victory made the first move as it started a breakaway but the shot went wide, almost ending it.
Kish came back with a breakaway of its own, they also were a little wide on its shot.
Down to 3v3 level, Victory posted its first shot but it again went just wide.
Back came Kish and they also hit it wide.
But just moments before going down to a 2v2 scenario, Stoltzfus ends it for Kish hitting a square hit and tickled the twine for the victory.
1-0.
In the younger group, JP Edwards battled Barr Funeral Home in an overtime thriller as well with JP Edwards taking the 3-2 victory.
It was a win/ win situation for the future of Mifflin County’s future soccer programs as all four teams left the field as winners.
