Lady Eagles top young Mounties
The Young Philipsburg-Osceola girls basketball team went up against Bald Eagle Area Wednesday night in a Mountain League Contest.
Despite a spirited effort, the Lady Mounties fell to the Eagles 53-24.
Bald Eagle got strong 16-point effort by Katie Perry.
Teammate Kierra Serb netted 12 for the Eagles to round out the double-digit scorers for her team.
The Mounties got six points each from Khendyl Sharrer and Megan Holenick.
Offensively, Bald Eagle got out to a quick start while its defense allowed just two points in a 15-2 first period.
Things continued to go the Lady Eagles’ way as it outscored the young Mounties 13-8 to take a 28-10 first half lead.
Coming out into the third, Bald Eagle again sizzled posting a 20-6 period and taking a 48-16.
The Lady Mounties rallied to outscore the Eagles in the fourth showing that they refused to go away quietly.
But the Eagles would take the win.
