Lady Huskies battle but falls to Williamsport

They continue to battle!

Despite losing their game against State College on Monday, the Mifflin  County girls were back on the hardwood and ready to take on the Williamsport Millionaires.

On this night, the Millionaires were able to hold onto a 61-48 victory over the young Lady Husky team.

Leading the way for Mifflin County was Kate Knable and Marissa Gingrich with 14 points each.

Hannah Rittenhouse rounded things out with an 8-point effort.

Leading Williamsport was Kailee Helmrick with a game-High 21-point effort.

Teammates Sophia Herb and Katelyn Wilson finishes with a 15-point and a 13-point effort, respectively.

A quick 15-2 scoring run in the first quarter, put the Lady Huskies behind the eight ball early but the fiesty team would try to rally back.

However in the second, the Huskies poured in 18 but Williamsport would do one better posting a 19-point quarter.

As the two went into the intermission, Williamsport took a 34-20 advantage.

Even in the third, the Lady Millionaires would one-up the Huskies on scoreboard posting 12 while Mifflin netted 11.

In the final stanza, the Lady Huskies outscored Williamsport 17-15 but it wouldn’t be enough to complete the comeback.
