Lady Huskies explodes for 24 in first; tops Hershey

LEWISTOWN – The MIfflin County girls basketball team got back to its winning ways Friday night as the held off Hershey at home, 55-50 in a prime time Mid-Penn contest.

Leading the offensive charge for the Lady Huskies was Marissa Gingrich, who netted a game-high 21 points.

Teammate Brianna Bodtorf chipped in with nine.

Rounding out the leading scorers for MIfflin County were Mya Aumiller and Kate Knable with eight points each.

Hershey got a 14-point effort by Zoe Carlson and a 13-point night by Anna Coulter in a losing effort.

“The Purple and Black Attack” exploded onto the scene in the first quarter, outscoring Hershey 24-10.

Leading the way was Gingrich’s eight points.

Hershey battled back in the second as the held the Huskies to nine while it bolstered 13.

When the two went into the intermission, MIfflin County held a 35-23 advantage.

The Lady Huskies battled hard in the third quarter as they outscored Hershey by two, 15-13 in period.

Though Hershey outscored the Huskies 14-7, MIfflin County notched the victory.
