Lady Huskies fall to tough CD softball team

The Mifflin County Huskies softball team couldn’t keep up with Central Dauphin and fell 10-2 on Monday.

Central Dauphin jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Stella Gasper doubled, scoring two runs, and Piper Specht induced Bre Lock to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

An error, and a single by Brynn Barkley helped Central Dauphin extend their early lead in the second.

Central Dauphin extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third thanks to

RBI doubles by Kayla Fletcher and Barkley.

Barkley earned the win for Central Dauphin.

The starter allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Specht took the loss for Mifflin County. The starter went three innings, surrendering 10 runs (seven earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking

Ava Baker and Riley Hine each collected two hits for the Huskies. Jalee Bodtorf led Mifflin County with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day.

Fketcher and Barkley were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for the Rams . Isabel Rodriquez collected two hits for Central Dauphin in four at bats.

CD had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. The Lady Rams stole four bases in the game.
