Lady Indians fall in a nail biter to Rockets

MIFFLINTOWN – It was quite a shoot out in the Juniata girls basketball home opener against Southern Huntingdon on Friday night.

It was a nailbiter to the very end as the Rockets were able to hold onto to the 63-60 victory.

Juniata’s leading scorer on the night were Olivia Clark and  Mackenzie Bennett both with 18.

The Indians were 10-for-20 from the line.

Southern high scorers on the night were Jenny Cantrell with 28 and Alexis Buckley with 16.

The Rockets as a team was 15-of-24 from the line.

Juniata’s defense came out strong holding the Lady Rockets to only eight points while its offense netted 13.

But the Rockets blasted off in the second posting 18 while limiting the Indians to nine.

Going into the intermission, Southern led 26-24.

In the second half the game was just as close as the outscored the Indians 63-60 for the victory.
