Lady Mounties drop Bellefonte

BELLEFONTE – Two of the legendary Centre County softball teams faced off Monday at Bellefonte when Philipsburg-Osceola went up against a very hot Bellefonte team that went unbeaten last week.
In this meeting home field advantage didn’t pan out for the Lady Raiders as they fell to the once-beaten Mounties 7-2.
Kamryn Harris picked up the win for Philipsburg-Osceola while Tara Baney took the loss.
Highlighting the contest were the Mounties two home runs. Hitting round trippers were Maddie Lucas and senior Maggie Peck. Peck also landed a double on the night.
Thompson had a strong offensive showing finishing with three hits on the night while Peck collected two.
Bellefonte got strong offensive effort by Rianna Trexler who went 2-for-3.
The Mounties opened the first plating a run.
But the Lady Raiders knotted the score in the bottom of the inning.
However, the third inning proved large for the Lady Mounties as they were able to push out four runs in the inning against a very tough hurler in Baney.
The visitors added some insurance runs in the fourth and never looked back en route to the win.
