Lady Mounties give Harmony everything they could handle before falling 53-39

Though they didn’t pick up a win in their last game of the season, the Philipsburg-Osceola girls basketball team might have given itself a positive jump into next season as they went head-to-head with Harmony before falling 53-39.

“We Put ourselves in position to win our last game but didn’t get the job done,” said Mounties coach Brandon Myers.

Leading the offensive charge on the night for PO was Megan Holencick with 15 points.

Khendyl Sharrer finished with eight.

Harmony got a 27-point effort by Traci Hauser en route to the victory.

It was quite a battle in the first period as Harmony slid past Philipsburg-Osceola 16-13 in first quarter scoring.

The Mounties kept it close in the second period as well only allowing Harmony to outscore them 15-11.

Going into the intermission, the Mounties trailed 31-24.

But in the third quarter, the Lady Mounties closed the deficit as they would outscore Harmony 14-3, taking the lead going into the final stanza 38-34.

Unfortunately for Philipsburg-Osceola Harmony shut down the Lady Mounties to one point while its offense tallied 18 for the win.
