Lady Raiders and Eagles battle in defensive contest; Red Raiders notch win
BELLEFONTE – In girls action, the Bellefonte girls and Bald Eagle basketball teams clamped down the defense and refused to let up their grips.
But in the end, the Lady Raiders came out the victors of a 34-25 victory Friday.
Leading the way offensively for Bellefonte was Maddie Tice with seven while the Eagles got an eight point night from Abigail Hoover.
“It was a tough, defensive battle but the team did a great job of ratcheting up the intensity on defense in the second half,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “Bella Corman brought a ton of energy and really brought the team up to her level. It was great to see the team really persevere in one of the toughest games we played all season.”
Bellefonte led after the first, outscoring the Eagles 6-3.
The Lady Raiders grinded out the lead in the second half, outscoring Bald Eagle 9-8.
Bellefonte took the 15-11 advantage as the teams went into the intermission.
It would be a clean sweep in the second half as the Lady Raiders outscored Bald Eagle 19-14 in the second half en route to the victory.
