Lady Raiders hit 500-win milestone; dominates PO
500 wins and counting!
The Bellefonte girls basketball team achieve a special milestone Wednesday night in their win against Philipsburg-Osceola, posting the team’s 500th win in team history.
The Lady Raiders dominated throughout posting a 54-30 win over the Mounties.
“It was great to see the effort shown by the team tonight. After giving up the first basket of the game, we went on a 20-0 run to end the 1st quarter. That really set the tone for the rest of the game. It is what I expect from this team every night,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “It was also a special night for the program as it was the 500th win in program history. It is pretty cool to be a part
of history and helping the program continue its success.”
Leading the way for Bellefonte in the scoring department was Maddie Tice with 13. Teammate Sarah DeHaas chopped in with a 10-point effort.
The Lady Mounties were led by Kylie Kennedy with a game-high 17 point performance.
Offensively, the Lady Raiders put the game basically on ice after one quarter of play, outscoring PO 20-2.
Bellefonte posted 20 more in the second while Philipsburg-Osceola was able to notch 12.
However, going into the intermission, Bellefonte held a pretty secure 40-14 advantage.
Despite outscoring Bellefonte 16-14 in the second half, the Mounties fell short as the Red Raiders made history.
With the win, the Lady Raiders improve to 6-10.
