Lady Raiders posts solid win over Mifflinburg

Back on track.

The Bellefonte girls’ stingy defense was enough for their offense to take the victory Saturday night in a 40-36 against Mifflinburg.

Leading the way offensively was Maddie Tice with 17 points in the victory.

The Wildcats Ella Shuck led her team with 17 as well.

“It was another great effort by the team tonight. Our hard work finally paid off as we were able to constantly get to the ball,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “Getting off to an 11-0 start in the game really build up our confidence and we sustained it all the way to the end when Mifflinburg made a late run. I’m so proud of this team.”

In the first quarter, thanks to an 11-0 run early, the Lady Raiders took an 11-4 advantage into the second.

Tice and company kept building onto the lead in the second as Bellefonte muscled out a 9-5 period to go into the intermission 20-9.

Bellefonte opened the second half on a 14-12 advantage increasing their lead to a 34-21 lead going into the final stanza.

Mifflinburg took the last period, outscoring Bellefonte 16-5 but it was too little too late as the Lady Raiders went onto the victory.
