BELLEFONTE – It was another night of near perfection for Bellefonte pitcher Lexi Rogers and her teammates as she tossed a 1-hitter Thursday in her battle against Mountain League foes, Central.

Her only blemish on the scorebook all day was a home run by the Dragons’ Ashlyn Renner.

However, the Workman like effort by the Lady Raiders finished as an 11-1 five-inning contest versus the young Central team.

Rogers helped her own cause as her and teammate Tori Reichert went yard in the team’s 13-hit effort against the Dragons.

“That’s a young Central team that’s got some talent. They’re a pretty good club. But today we just kept going we’d get three. We’d get one, We’d get two. Then we would get two hits here and three there. I think a Workman like effort is the best way to put it,” said Bellefonte coach Travis Foster. “A thought we had coming into this year is we are going to have competitiveness we thought would be something good up and down the line up. I think one of strengths for batters 1-9 is that I trust them.”

After setting the Dragons down in the first, Bellefonte got its bats going early and often en route to a 6-run advantage.

With one out, Maddie Tice got the inning off and running with a single right back the middle. She advanced to second on a past ball.

Rogers blasted a shot to left field, scoring pinch runner Maria Cotter on the play and leaving Rogers standing at second with a stand up double.

Hannah Lauck, who finished with two hits, roped in an RBI single.

Sara DeHaas followed with a single.

After both runners moved up a base via another past ball, Hailey Rimmey brought both in on a RBI double to the gap in left centerfield.

Rimmey’s time on the base path was a short one as Tori Reichert blasted a 2-run roundtripper over the centerfield fence, upping the lead to 6-0.

Rogers was strong in the second inning as well, taking the Dragons down 1-2-3. Rogers would finish with eight strike outs.

Bellefonte added another run in the bottom of the second on a solo shot by Rogers.

Defensively, the Lady Raiders would set them up and knock them down while Rogers kept her pitches soaring through the line up.

Holding onto a 7-0 advantage, Bellefonte gave up its first and only hit of the game to Renner, cutting it to a 7-1 ball game.

But the Red Raiders picked up the runs they had to with a run in the third and fourth and then ending the contest at the 10-run margin as they posted three in the bottom of the fifth to seal the deal.
