Lady Rams push Bald Eagle to limit; falls 13-12

There was a shoot out at Milesburg Monday as Penns Valley battled Mountain League foe Bald Eagle Area.

When the dust settled and the runs were counted, the Lady Eagles pulled past the Lady Rams 13-12.

Picking up the win on the mound was Maddie Peters as she tallied four strike outs.

Taking the loss on the afternoon was Allison O’Brien who tallied two strikeouts, four walks and two hit batters.

Penns Valley led off the scoring posting two runs in the top of the second.

However, the Eagles rallied back to plate eight and take a commanding six-run lead. They would increase the lead to 11-2, putting them on the verge of 10 running the Rams and ending the game early.

But in the top of the fifth, Penns Valley battled its way back into the ball game, scoring six runs to cut the Bald Eagle lead to 11-10.

The Eagles extended its lead to three after posting two more in the fifth, making it a 13-10 advantage going into the final stanza.

Try as they may, the Rams battled back to cut the lead to one but the Eagles defense shut things down to hold tightly to the one-run victory.

The Rams finished with 12 hits while Bald Eagle had pounded out 11.

Offensively, Penns Valley got strong performances by Allie O’Brien(2 singles, RBI), Avery Dinges (double, RBI), Kendra Bumgardner (single, HR, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs), Kailen Winkelblech (run scored), Noelle Webb (2 singles, 2 runs scored), Jordan Anderson (single, RBI, run scored), Ellie Coursen (single, double, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs), Cheyanne Wolfe (double, run scored, 2 RBIs) and Scotty Dinges (single, double, 2 runs scored).

Bald Eagle Area were led Mara Hockenberry (2 walks & 2 runs),Makena Baney (single, HBP, 2 runs), Ava Stere (double, 2 singles, 2 runs), Madison Peters (walk, run scored), Maegen King (walk, run scored), Autumn Tobias (2 singles, walk, 2 runs) Katelyn Smitchko (double, run scored), Maddie Perry  (3-run homerun, single, run scored) and Madison Eckley (single, run scored).
