Lady Rams trip up Bald Eagle Area in softball action

SPRING MILLS- The Penns Valley softball got its week off and running in a huge way, defeating visiting Bald Eagle at home Monday.
A 4-run third inning proved to be the spark the Rams needed as it went on to top the Eagles 8-4.
Leading the offensive punch for Penns Valley was pitcher Taylor Bumgardner who finished with two hits, 3RBIs and a run scored.
Scottie Dinges and Bumgardner both went yard in the contest.
Bald Eagle got a 2- hit effort from Ava Stere. Stere went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Both teams opened their parts of the first plating a run each.
After a scoreless second inning, the Eagles picked up two in the top of the inning.
Madison Eckley led things off for Bald Eagle as she roped a double into left.
Stere brought in Eckley on an RBI single to center, putting the Eagles ahead once again at 2-1.
With one out, Katelyn Smitchko singled, putting runners on first and second.
Stere would later score on a Rams miscue, upping the Bald Eagle lead to 3-1.
Back came Penns Valley, as it rallied to plate four runs and take control of the lead.
Noel Webb was hit by a pitch to start the inning.
Teammate Avelyn Van Heyst also took one for the team as she was also hit by a pitch, quickly putting two runners on.
Kailen Winkleblech was intentionally walked to load the bases.
Ellie Coursen blasted a 2-run double to tie the contest at three.
Winkleblech scored to take the lead on a wild pitch. On the pitch, Coursen moved up to third.
Bumgardner singled in Coursen, giving the Lady Rams a little breathing room at 4-2.
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles battled back, scoring one.
Bumgardner gets the run back in the bottom of the inning as she crushes a home run over the left field wall.
In the bottom of the sixth Dinges blasts a 2-run home run to help the Rams take a convincing 8-4 advantage.
Bumgardner went the distance in the win, allowing five hits and five strikeouts in the victory.
