Late Comeback From Mechanicsburg Costs Mifflin County baseball

Wednesday’s game against Mechanicsburg was a heartbreaker for Mifflin County baseball squad, as they lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat. Mechanicsburg were down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when they scored two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mechanicsburg pitchers struck out seven, while the Huskies sat down three.

Mechanicsburg got on the board in the first inning , scoring one run.

Elliott Yetter hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Mifflin County Varsity Huskies tie the game at one in the top of the second.

Mifflin County took the lead in the top of the fifth. Jayden Smith singled, scoring one run, to give the Huskies the leg up, 2-1.

Marlcowitz earned the win for Mechanicsburg. The pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Logan Alexander took the loss for Mifflin County. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering one run on four hits, striking out two and walking one..

Evan Strohecker set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Mifflin County with two hits in four at bats. Yetter and Smith each drove in one run for the Huskies. Strohecker stole three bases. Mifflin County ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game.

Mifflin County Varsity plays at home on Friday against Mount Union in their next game.
