Late results: Penns Valley track athletes shine in D6 and Mountain League meets

The Penns Valley track and field team competed in the district 6 AA championship meet on Tuesday. The girls placed 2nd as a team, getting edged by Tyrone for the district championship. The boys placed a strong 5th. The following individuals qualified for the state meet on May 28:

Colton Sands – 1600m and 800m

Brendan Colwell – 1600m and 800m

Thad Smith – 3200m

Dan Kelly – 3200m

Anna Stitzer – 1600m and 3200m

Kelsey Hull – 1600m

Leah Beben – high jump and triple jump

Cammi Upcraft – high jump

Colin Niewinski – javelin

Tuesday results

On Tuesday, Penns Valley track and field competed in the Mountain league Championship Meet at Clearfield High School.  Penns Valley girls won the meet as a team. Individual 1st place winners were Anna Stitzer in the 1600m run and 800m run. Alexis Durn in the 3200m run.  The 4 x 400 relay team of Abby Stitzer, Anna Stitzer, Leah Beben and Anna Korman.  And the 4 x 800m relay team of Abby Stitzer, Anna Stitzer, Kelsey Hull and Alexis Durn.

The boys had a strong showing, placing 3rd in the league. First place overalls went to Brendan Colwell in the 1600m run. Colton Sands in the 800m run and Thad Smith in the 3200m run. The 4 x 800m relay of Simon Smith , Thad Smith, Colton Sands and Dan Kelly also placed 1st.
