Late Thursday result: Bellefonte girls fall to Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT – Despite sporting another strong effort, the Bellefonte girls basketball team fell to a very experienced Williamsport team 59-41 on the road Thursday.

“Williamsport is a very tough and gritty defensive team,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer. “They were able to force us into a lot of turnovers especially in the second and third quarters. They really controlled the tempo and we could not stop their momentum.”

Leading the way offensively for the Lady Raiders was Maddie Tice with 13.

The Millionaires got double-digit efforts from Jessica Robinson and Sophia  Erb with 15-point and 12-point performance, respectively.

In the first, both teams fought back-and-forth with Williamsport taking a slim 9-8 advantage going into the second.

Williamsport started to heat things up in the second, taking a 28-16 lead into halftime.

The Lady Millionaires continued its scoring spree outscoring Bellefonte 17-7.

Bellefonte tried to battle back in the final stanza outscoring Williamsport 18-14 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as Williamsport took the victory.

With the loss, the Lady Raiders fall to 3-7 on the year.
