Late Tuesday Result: State College tops MIfflin County in a thrilling D6 championship game

CRESSON- The recent rivalry between the State College baseball team and Mifflin County continues to grow.
Tuesday, the two met once again for the District 6 Class 6A title at stake.
Both teams put on quite a show and in the end it would be the Little Lions that would win the contest in dramatic fashion, winning in a 7-6 contest in walk off fashion at Mt.Alousius College.
With the win, State College punches its way to the next step on the way with hopes of hopefully playing for the PIAA State title.
With the season series tied at one each, State College also wins the season.
With the game tied at six in the bottom of the seventh, Ryden Walker brought home the winning run with an RBI single.
State College finished with 10 hits while MIfflin County tallied seven.
Sebastion Rhoades and teammate Kellen Williams both finished the day with two hits each.
Offensively, Mifflin County was led by Madden Weaver and Landon Haigh as both provided two hits each.
The Huskies led off the game posting three runs.
State College upped the Huskies by two runs picking up five runs in the bottom of the first.
But the Huskies rallied back in the second, tying the contest with two runs.
Things remained stalled at five until the fourth when the Little Lions added a run.
Down to their final six outs, Mifflin County rallied to tie the game once again making it a 6-6 stalemate.
After holding the Huskies at bay in the seventh, Derek Moriata started off the State College seventh with a single. He was replaced on the base path by pinch runner Cooper Ingold.
Williams followed with a single of his own, putting runners on first and second.
Max Herncane moved both players up a base putting down a successful sacrifice bunt.
Finn Powers was intentionally walked to load the bases, setting the stage for
Walker. Walker placed the game-winning hit, sending the Little Lions home with the hardware.
Rowan Walker picked up the win on the mound while Mifflin County’s Aidan Arnold took the loss.
State College improves to 11-9 overall and captures its 20th District VI high school baseball title in the long history of the program.

Little Lions head to the District 10-1 seed to play McDowell in Erie on May 27th with the winner of the contest qualifying for the PIAA state tournament.
