Late Update: Wolves top Tigers in four set thriller

BOALSBURG – In a battle of Juniata and Centre County, the East Juniata girls volleyball team went up against the St. Joseph’s Academy.

It was a battle from beginning to end as the Wolves came out on top in a hard earned 3-1 victory.

From the beginning the two went head-to-head.

In game one, East Juniata came out strong going on a 3-0 run. Picking up three of the East Juniata service points came from Hope Lightner.

St. Joe’s battled back to cut things to 3-2.

But a 6-0 run put the Tigers back up to a 10-3 advantage notching service points for the Lady Tigers was Angelica Ybarra.

Both teams battled back and forth as the Wolves started to claw its way back up to tie the game at 19.

It was a back-and-forth battle by both teams who forced the game into 27-27 contest.

Tied at 27, St. Joseph got the ball back on a side out. They put it in the hands of Cav Burell.

St. Joseph picked up the 29-27 victory with a blast by captain Madi Mazza.

In the second game, the Lady Wolves took the second contest in another close battle at 25-20.

However, there was a lot of fight left in the young East Juniata squad as they came back to take game three 25-11.

However in game four, the Wolves muscled out yet another close contest, taking home the 25-22 victory.
